A relaxed and educating evening watching the unique bird life of Lake Mývatn. The tour gives an overview of the bird life of Mývatn and is meant both for amateurs as well as the more experienced birdwatchers. For the more experienced the guide will advise where to find certain species and help to plan the upcoming days of bird watching.
Lake Mývatn and the nearby Laxá river are home to more duck species than any other place in the world. During this evening tour we will give you an overview of the divers bird life of the Lake Mývatn area. In Iceland the weather most often calms down in the evening and the lighting is more photo friendly. This of course has the same effect on the birds that are therefore more likely to be calm and approachable. Join our expert guides for three hours and visit sights and locations that the locals use to get the best glimpse of the likes of Pintail, Tufted Duck, Scaup, Harlequin Duck, Barrow’s Goldeneye Red-necked phalarope, Common Scoter, Slavonian Grebe, Great Northern Diver, Red throated Diver, Arctic Tern, Goosander common Snipe, Meadow Pipit, Snow bunting White Wagtail and possibly the Gyrfalcon and many many more.
